An Bord Pleanala grant planning permission for the demolition of an existing retail unit / commercial building (and the construction of a two-storey retail unit and all associated ancillary development works at Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Barrack Street, Carlow. The proposed development will provide much needed additional retail floorspace within a well-established retail location and will add a new retail format to allow Carlow to fulfil its strategic visions. McCutcheon Halley acted as planning consultants on behalf of their client Fairgreen Shopping Centre (Carlow) Limited, working alongside a multidisciplinary team consisting of; Delahunt Design, Malone O Regan Consulting Engineers and Road Plan.

In their decision, An Bord Pleanála noted that the development ‘would constitute an appropriate form of development at this location’ and would be ‘in accordance with the proposer planning and sustainable development of the area’. The proposed development will provide a pleasant environment enhancing the core town centre. The development will be within easy walking distance to other town centre locations such as Tullow Street, Carlow Shopping Centre and the historic quarters and will increase the employment opportunities for Carlow.
